Privacy policy

Effective October 1, 2026

Who we are

Portraitia is an independently operated art-learning platform. Portraitia is responsible for the personal information processed through the service. For privacy questions or requests, contact portraitia.art@gmail.com.

Information we collect

Portraitia may collect information you provide when using the service, including:
  • account information, such as your email;
  • profile information, artistic preferences, mediums, skill level, and goals;
  • artwork, reference images, notes, and study information you upload;
  • practice history, critiques, progress, and saved references;
  • community activity, such as published work, likes, follows, and reports.
Artwork and references are private by default unless you choose to publish them. Do not upload images or personal information relating to another person unless you have permission or another lawful basis to do so.

How we use information

Portraitia uses information to:
  • create and secure your account;
  • provide studio, critique, comparison, practice, reference, and progress features;
  • personalize exercises and recommendations;
  • provide AI-powered analysis and reference generation;
  • operate and moderate community features;
  • respond to reports and prevent misuse;
  • maintain and improve the service;
  • send necessary account and security communications.
Portraitia does not sell personal information, use behavioral advertising, or use advertising trackers.

AI processing

When you use AI-powered features, Portraitia may send the artwork, reference images, and relevant study information required for that feature to third-party AI service providers. When you choose to publish, your artwork and its details may also be screened by AI for safety and sensitive-content classification.

Portraitia does not currently use your private artwork or references to train AI models. Processing by AI providers is also governed by their own terms and safeguards. If Portraitia’s use of content for AI training changes in the future, this policy will be updated before that new use begins, and any permission required by applicable law will be obtained.

AI critique is educational guidance and may not always be accurate.

Private work and community sharing

Your artwork and references remain private unless you deliberately choose to publish them. When you publish content, information associated with the post, such as your artwork, title, description, medium, and public profile, may become visible to other Portraitia members. Published content may be reviewed, classified, blurred, restricted, or removed under Portraitia’s Terms of Use and Content Rules.

Storage and service providers

Portraitia uses Supabase for authentication, database services, and file storage. Portraitia may also use third-party providers for AI processing, email delivery, Google sign-in, and other services necessary to operate Portraitia. These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to perform their services.

Portraitia displays open-access artwork from the National Gallery of Art, and loads fonts from Google; your browser may contact those services directly when pages load.

Information may be processed in countries other than your own where these providers operate, subject to applicable legal safeguards.

Cookies and device storage

Portraitia uses only functional cookies or local device storage needed for features such as signing in, saving preferences, recovering drafts, timers, and maintaining product state. Portraitia does not use advertising or behavioral-tracking cookies.

Retention and deletion

Portraitia keeps personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service and for legitimate security, legal, moderation, and dispute-resolution purposes.

You may delete individual artwork, remove published content, and delete your account from Settings on your profile page.

When an account is deleted, associated personal information and stored files are deleted, except where limited information must be retained for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or enforcement purposes. Reports you submitted are kept without your identity, and references you contributed to the shared library remain without being linked to you. Copies may remain temporarily in system backups until those backups are automatically replaced. You may also request deletion by contacting portraitia.art@gmail.com.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or a copy of your information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Portraitia may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Adults only

Portraitia is intended for people aged 18 and older and does not knowingly seek personal information from children.

Security

Portraitia uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including authentication, access controls, and restricted access to private files. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

Portraitia may update this Privacy Policy as the service or applicable requirements change. The effective date above will be updated, and material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
